The Natural Resources of Canada Office of Energy Efficiency has set up new websites "Auto Smart" with very interesting information about saving fuel money by changing habits of driving. One of the new access is a Calculator Calculate fuel consumption and CO2 emmissions and everyone can have access by click on the following URL:

We did some calculation but you should find out yourself about your own car or for a new car you intent to buy.

 

Here are the excerpts from the Auto Smart Calculator:

For the Privat Driver*

Since you've travelled 10000 Km on average per year, in your light duty vehicle, and you drive 55 % in the city and 45 % on the highway and your vehicle's city and highway ratings are 12.3 / 8.5 L/100 km. you will annually consume 1059 Litres and produce 2541 kg of CO2 per year.

Since you pay 0.70 $/L on average, you will spend 74130 on gasoline per year.

 

Since you've travelled 10000 Km on average per year, in your light duty vehicle, and you drive 85 % in the city and 15 % on the highway and your vehicle's city and highway ratings are 12.3 / 8.5 L/100 km. you will annually consume 1173 Litres and produce 2815 kg of CO2 per year.

Since you pay 0.70 $/L on average, you will spend 82110 on gasoline per year.

 

For the Business Driver*

Since you've travelled 30000 Km on average per year, in your light duty vehicle, and you drive 55 % in the city and 45 % on the highway and your vehicle's city and highway ratings are 17 / 12 L/100 km. you will annually consume 4425 Litres and produce 1062 kg of CO2 per year.

Since you pay 0.70 $/L on average, you will spend 309750 on gasoline per year.

 

Since you've travelled 30000 Km on average per year, in your light duty vehicle, and you drive 85 % in the city and 15 % on the highway and your vehicle's city and highway ratings are 17 / 12 L/100 km. you will annually consume 4875 Litres and produce 1170 kg of CO2 per year.

Since you pay 0.70 $/L on average, you will spend 341250 on gasoline per year.

 

For the All-Around-Year Long Distance Heavy Duty Vehicle Driver*

Since you've travelled 100000 mi. on average per year, in your heavy* duty vehicle, and you drive 55 % in the city and 45 % on the highway and your vehicle's city and highway ratings are 23.0 / 33.4 mi/gal. you will annually consume 3826 Gallons and produce 4091 kg of CO2 per year.

Since you pay 3.05 $/Gal. on average, you will spend 1167015 on gasoline per year.

 

Since you've travelled 100000 mi. on average per year, in your heavy* duty vehicle, and you drive 85 % in the city and 15 % on the highway and your vehicle's city and highway ratings are 23.0 / 33.4 mi/gal. you will annually consume 4238 Gallons and produce 4532 kg of CO2 per year.

Since you pay 3.05 $/Gal. on average, you will spend 1292643 on gasoline per year.
